The Douglas County School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Yvonne Wagstaff as the newest member of its Board of Trustees.
Yvonne brings a wealth of experience from her personal and professional life, deeply rooted in educational and community involvement.
Yvonne’s story is one of constant movement and involvement. Raised mainly in Texas before settling in Idaho, where she met her husband, the couple has built a loving family over 25 years, raising six children and cherishing their grandchild. Their journey across the United States, from Idaho to Florida, then Southern Illinois, and back to the West, is a testament to their adaptability and commitment to family.
During her 18 years as a stay-at-home mom, Yvonne dedicated herself to volunteering in her children’s schools across the country. This involvement gave her a deep appreciation for teachers and the intricacies of educational planning. Joining DCSD six years ago as a substitute classified support staff, Yvonne worked across the district, forming connections and gaining insights into its operations. Her decision five years ago to take a permanent position at Pinon Hills Elementary School further solidified her bond with the educational community.
Her entry into the school board is a reflection of her dedication to educational excellence. Yvonne’s focus is on making decisions that positively impact families and students, emphasizing support for both students and teachers in a contemporary educational environment.
Yvonne Wagstaff shared her vision, stating, “My goal as a board member is to help bring our focus back on what matters most, our students and teachers. Trust is something that takes years to earn and can be lost in a moment, so restoring that trust with each family, helping them know that I understand the day-to-day struggle of protecting and raising children in today’s world, that’s important to me. It will not be easy but it will be worth it.”
