Teacher Leaders Strengthening Our Classrooms
Hailey Sebahar

This school year, DCSD’s Teacher Leaders are helping meet each school’s unique needs, supporting instruction in ways that are responsive to individual site goals and aligned to our district instructional framework.

These positions are grant-funded through Title IV federal funds and were created as EPIC coach funding sunset, allowing site-based instructional support to continue and ensuring students still have opportunities to be EPIC.

Their work looks different at each school. At CCMES, Kelly McCue organized classroom gallery walks where teachers highlighted instructional practices and shared best practices with one another. At MES, Bernadette Leonis-Fritsen coordinated a schoolwide gallery walk before break, giving teachers the opportunity to visit one another’s classrooms to observe instructional practices and student engagement in action. At JVES, Cris Jezek has led workshops to support staff learning. At SES, Alyssa Park shares weekly instructional learning blogs with staff, providing practical strategies and guidance aligned to DCSD's Instructional Model.

Teacher Leaders are creating opportunities for collaboration, peer observations, and instructional growth.
